Prostate Cancer Research

Supporting PCR with a refreshed brand and ongoing reporting communications that focus on science and its impact on prostate cancer patients and their families.

Working closely with the PCR team, we refreshed their brand to shift focus onto the scientific research they fund and the impact it achieves for patients and their families. The bold new brand is designed to inspire greater funding for scientific breakthroughs. Since our initial reporting work in 2018, we have continued to provide messaging structure and design across reporting, newsletters, and digital development. Our collaborative approach has been central to the success of their communications – and a reason we have remained a trusted partner over many years.

Refreshing the brand

Through a process of review, assessment and discussion, we identified the direction to shift the brand towards a focus on scientific breakthroughs and the benefits these can bring to prostate cancer patients and their families.

Working closely with the PCRC team, we refreshed their brand to shift focus onto science and the impact their research grants can achieve for prostate cancer patients. The name was shortened to Prostate Cancer Research (PCR) to represent its broader reach and remove the single-site emphasis.

A new strapline was established:
Transforming research.
Transforming lives.

This highlighted the focus and the ambition of the charity simply and has helped guide their communications and approach to all their activities.

A contemporary brand language, including design style for infographics and photography supports the new identity.

The new brand is a bold move and hopes to inspire more funding for scientific breakthroughs.

“Fit Creative’s work on our rebrand was exemplary. They not only brought a good design brain but also a wealth of experience working with health organisations, understanding of patients, impact and of what is needed to get buy-in from all the stakeholders along the journey.”

PCR

“Over the past few years, we have undergone a transformative growth in our income and operations. Fit Creative has been versatile enough to stay with us throughout that journey, able to produce accessible, clear and compelling design and materials – from pitch decks to newsletters, to data-heavy state of the field and polling reports – even as the projects we’ve worked on have become increasingly complex. We have also really valued their “critical friend” approach, which helps us to refine our ideas, and they are always a pleasure to work with.”

Patient communications

In order to launch the brand as comprehensively as possible, a number of key items were redesigned with the new brand look and feel. These included the patient handbook, which is distributed directly and through hospitals and GP surgeries; the fundraising guide to aid supporters in achieving successful activities; and the legacy guide aimed at major donations.

In addition, we have designed the regular newsletter that is distributed both to engaged scientists and patients. This is the major vehicle to communicate their programmes, research grants, and scientific progress.

Fundraising

Raising funds through supporter donations is an important income stream for most charities. As with others, PCR focuses its campaigns through event sponsorships, and direct donations and legacies. We have designed the supporter fundraising kit, and a number of focused campaigns, as well as adverts for legacy donations.

Reporting

PCR communicates with a variety of partners and supporters and requires high-quality, high-level reporting design and production. We have created strategy reports, funding reports and programme reports to aid strong messaging and produce the greatest impact. Our role in these projects starts with structuring the messaging, through design to the final deliverable. These are both digital and print formats.
